"Eid is coming soon, many of us will be traveling back to our hometowns. Wow, it must be really exciting to gather with the extended family in a festive atmosphere. But I definitely want to go out and explore too."
The OLIV Exploration Team has chosen a destination in the East Java region for this trip, namely the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, also known as Coban Sewu, is a "waterfall" with a height of about 120 meters. This waterfall borders Tumpak Sewu Waterfall has a water flow that resembles it, thus it is classified as a "waterfall". The location of Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is in a steep area that stretches with an elevation of 500 meters above sea level. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is formed in the flow of the Glidih River, which originates from "Mount Semeru" .
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Java. From the center of Lumajang city, this waterfall is still far away, reaching 47 km to the south. The tourist location of this waterfall is still close to another cool spot, namely Goa Tetes. In Javanese, tumpak can be interpreted as stacked, and sewu means a thousand.
Another meaning of the name Tumpak Sewu is tumpak (to rise) and sewu (a thousand). So Tumpak Sewu means this waterfall looks as if it is rising or resting on the wall or cliff of the waterfall.
"It can be concluded that the name Tumpak Sewu is a nickname for a pile of a thousand waterfalls. Although it is not actually a thousand, the flow of water that forms the waterfall here is very abundant, making it look like a giant waterfall similar to Niagara Falls."
The row of waterfalls stretches wide like a curtain, occasionally refracting a beautiful rainbow. It is located at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, while the height of the waterfall from top to bottom reaches 120 meters.
The shape of Tumpak Sewu waterfall is beautiful and lined up like a curtain. Tumpak Sewu waterfall falls into the category of tiered waterfall or curtain waterfall. This beautiful waterfall is formed from the flow of the Glidik River, which has its source in Mount Semeru, the highest mountain in Java.
To reach the waterfall location, tourists generally use the Lumajang route because it is safer to get to the lower area. The official ticket booth is also located on the Lumajang route. The Malang route consists of a scary vertical staircase.
A cave hidden behind the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, named the Fairy Cave. This place is generally used for spiritual activities such as meditation or retreat.
Still in the lower area, you will also find a green valley that is often used as a photo spot by tourists. From here, you can see the beauty and grandeur of the waterfall from below. If you shout here, your voice will echo.
So what are you waiting for, let's meet with the OLIV Exploration team at Tumpak Sewu this Eid!
