What is the Aurora Borealis????

The Aurora Borealis occurs when there is a coalition between gas particles in the Earth's atmosphere and electrical particles reflected by the sun. The colorful lights seen are due to the types of gas particles that collide. The light yellowish-green color, which is the most common and frequently appears, is produced by oxygen molecules located about 97 km (60 miles) from the Earth. Meanwhile, other colors that rarely appear, such as red, are produced by oxygen molecules at an altitude of 322 km (200 miles). Nitrogen produces blue or purple-red colors.

Scientifically, the process of the creation of Aurora light can be explained as follows:

The temperature of the outer layer of the sun ranges in the thousands of degrees Celsius. At such high temperatures, collisions between gas molecules often occur, resulting in explosions. The electrons freed from these collisions are ejected from the sun's atmosphere as the sun rotates. These electrons exit through the holes in the sun's magnetic field. They are then blown by the solar wind towards Earth. These electrically charged particles are deflected by the Earth's magnetic field. At the north and south poles, the strength of the Earth's magnetic field is very weak, allowing charged particles to penetrate the Earth's atmosphere and collide with Earth's gas particles. This collision produces light that dances in the skies of the north and south poles.

The light from the Aurora is located at a distance of 80 km (50 miles) up to 640 km (400 miles) from the Earth's surface.

The Aurora can be seen in the northern part of the Earth (Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis) and the southern part (Southern Lights/Aurora Australis), centered around the magnetic poles in an irregular oval shape.
