Visit the City of 1000 Temples which is a UNESCO Site

Myanmar, which is friendly today, cannot be separated from its history as a country with Buddhist influences adhered to by the Burmese tribe. The Burmese tribe who now inhabit Myanmar were once the people of the Pagan kingdom which was the forerunner to the founding of the Myanmar state by uniting the surrounding areas.

However, that kingdom is just history. Now the capital of his former territory, which existed since the 13th century, has turned into a beautiful old city called Bagan in Mandalay, Myanmar. The history still remains. Bagan is now a charming historical tourist destination. Not to mention the stunning views. This beautiful view is presented through the expanse of thousands of ancient Buddhist temples and pagodas left by the kingdom.

Inside the pagoda there is a Buddha statue which would be a shame if not immortalized by the camera. The beauty of this old building on this vast land is even more amazing with the presence of vegetation growing around it. The combination of green combined with the brown of the pagoda temple presents a very beautiful natural painting.

Wandering along the streets in the city of Bagan, Myanmar, you will not miss the view of the old temples lining the roads. Starting from the big and majestic ones to the small ones sitting on the corner of the road. Different from other temples in Asia, the temples in Bagan have 2 colors, namely white and brick red.

Based on existing historical literature, the city of Bagan began to be built before the 10th century AD, namely during the reign of the Pagan kingdom. This kingdom is the origin of the Burmese people, the largest ethnic group in Myanmar.

The temples in Bagan were built as places of worship and learning for Buddhist followers from Asia, including India, for approximately 5 centuries since they were first founded. Over time, of the 10,000 temples scattered in the Bagan area, currently there are around 2,200 temples still standing. The famous temple is the Htilominlo temple. This temple was built in the 13th century. The building looks magnificent. Inside the main building, there is a Buddha statue as a place of worship for Buddhist followers. Behind it is a temple complex as part of the Htilominlo temple. Among thousands of temples, there is one largest pagoda, namely the Shwe Zi Gon pagoda. The striking difference between pagodas and temples is that pagodas are built of gold. Apart from being a center of worship for Buddhist followers, the Shwe Zi Gon Pagoda area is the center of Bagan city. Tourists can buy various souvenirs sold by local residents around the pagoda as typical Myanmar souvenirs.

For foreign tourists, Bagan is the main tourist destination in Myanmar. Similar to other tourist areas, there are many hotel choices available with various prices and classes offered. Restaurants line the streets offering traditional Myanmar, Asian and Western menus. Works of art are also growing rapidly as an industry supporting tourism development. Not surprisingly, standard prices in Bagan are also more expensive than other cities in Myanmar such as Mandalay and Yangon.
