General Definition of Copyright

Copyright is one part of intellectual property that has the broadest scope of protected objects, as it includes science, art, and literature, which also encompasses computer programs. The development of the creative economy, which is one of Indonesia's mainstays and various countries, along with the rapid advancement of information and communication technology, necessitates the renewal of the Copyright Law, considering that Copyright is the most important basis of the national creative economy.

With the Copyright Law that meets the elements of protection and the development of the creative economy, it is hoped that the contribution of the Copyright and Related Rights sector to the national economy can be more optimal. Definition of Copyright Copyright is the exclusive right of the creator that arises automatically based on the declarative principle after a creation is realized in a tangible form without reducing the limitations in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

The Related Rights are rights associated with Copyright, which are exclusive rights for performers, phonogram producers, or broadcasting organizations.

Protected creation

1. Books, computer programs, pamphlets, layouts of published written works, and all other written works;
2. Lectures, speeches, and other similar creations;
3. Teaching aids made for the purposes of education and science;
4. Song or music with or without lyrics;
5. Drama or musical drama, dance, choreography, puppetry, and pantomime;
6. Visual arts in all forms such as painting, drawing, carving, calligraphy, sculpture, collage, and applied arts;
7. Architecture;
8. Map;
9. Batik Art;
10. Photography;
11. Translation, interpretation, adaptation, anthology, and other works from the results of transformation.

1. Copyright Protection: Lifetime of the Creator + 70 Years.
2. Computer Program: 50 years since it was first published.
3. Actor: 50 years since it was first performed.
4. Recording Producer: 50 years since the Creation was fixed.
5. Broadcasting Institution: 20 years since it was first aired.

In Indonesia, copyright is protected under Law No. 28 of 2014.
