Indonesia Participates in the World's Largest Tourism Exhibition, FITUR 2025 Madrid

The Indonesian Pavilion attracted the attention of visitors at the FITUR 2025 tourism exhibition held in Madrid, Spain.

Indonesia participated in the world's largest tourism exhibition, Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) 2025 in Madrid, Spain, which was held on January 22-26, 2025. In this exhibition, the Indonesian pavilion recorded potential transactions worth USD 4.6 million (Rp 74 billion) or an increase of more than 50 percent compared to FITUR 2024.

In a written statement on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) explained that the Indonesian pavilion featured 11 travel agencies promoting Indonesian tourism destinations, both to businesses through business-to-business (B-to-B) partnerships and to potential tourists through business-to-customers (B-to-C). The primary target market for this promotion was partners and tourists from Europe and Latin America.

One of the guests of honor at the event was the President's Special Envoy for Tourism, Zita Anjani. During the event, Zita delivered a presentation on Indonesia's tourism development strategy at a tourism promotion seminar attended by potential investors, media outlets, and Spanish students. She also engaged in discussions with Indonesian exhibitors to gather input on strengthening government support in marketing Indonesian tourism internationally.

FITUR 2025 is an annual international tourism exhibition. This year the exhibition recorded the participation of 9,500 companies from 156 countries and was attended by around 155,000 business actors and 100,000 general visitors.

The Indonesian Pavilion, themed "Nusantara Collage," reflected in a photo wall featuring Indonesian culture and tourism by renowned photographer Hendro Hioe , attracted approximately 3,300 visitors and generated 1,034 business meetings between Indonesian exhibitors and potential partners. In addition to promoting tourist destinations, the Indonesian pavilion also showcased leading export products such as 'Incapto' coffee, a single-origin bean from Sumatra, instant noodles, and candy.

The Indonesian Pavilion also featured performances of Nusantara cultural arts, including the Merak Dance from Java, the Kenung Merah Dance from Betawi, and the Tor-Tor Dance from Batak, which were performed by Indonesian female students and Spanish artists who are alumni of the Darmasiswa scholarship.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Spain, Muhammad Najib, revealed that the increase in transactions and sales of Indonesian destination packages is in line with the growth of Spanish tourists to Indonesia, which rose 46 percent from 2023 to 2024. This positive trend is also supported by the increasing interest of Spanish-speaking tourists, especially from the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Peru, to explore the beauty of Indonesia. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that Indonesia's participation in FITUR 2025 will further strengthen the national tourism competitiveness in the global market and attract more foreign tourists to visit Indonesia.
