Odd-Even, One-Way, and Contraflow Traffic Schedules for the 2025 Eid Homecoming Return Flow
The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) together with other policy makers, such as the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), are currently preparing for the 2025 Eid homecoming return flow.
Preparations for the return flow were held after the Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, together with the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, officially closed the implementation of the national one-way system starting from KM 70 of the Cikatama Toll Road to KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road on Sunday (30/3/2025).
"We are officially closing the national one-way system. Next, we will focus on preparations for the Eid al-Fitr return flow," said Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, as quoted in his statement on the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps website, Tuesday (April 1, 2025).
The implementation of the one-way traffic policy involves preparing to close access roads, clear lanes, and set up rest areas two hours before the one-way lane is opened. Traffic normalization and the reopening of access roads are carried out two hours after the one-way lane is closed.
National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho added that during the Eid al-Fitr 2025 exodus period, the flow of homecoming vehicles from Jakarta is estimated to reach 2.1 million. He noted that currently, the number of homecoming vehicles has reached 1,765,102.
"It should be 2.1 million, but on the day of departure, 1,765,102 people have already left Jakarta, so 81% have left, leaving approximately 18%," Agus said.
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps confirmed that his team, along with relevant stakeholders, has prepared various strategies and scenarios to anticipate the peak of the return flow, which is predicted to occur around May 5, 6, or 7, 2025.
He hopes that with this thorough preparation, the return flow can run smoothly and safely, just like the homecoming flow, because Agus noted a decrease in the number of accidents during the 2025 homecoming flow.
In 2024, there were 2,152 recorded accidents, while this year, that figure dropped to 1,477, a 31.37% decrease. Furthermore, the number of fatalities also decreased by 32%, from 324 in 2024 to 223 in 2025.
"Currently, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps and stakeholders are preparing for the return flow with various strategies and scenarios for when the peak return flow occurs around the 5th, 6th, or 7th," he stressed.
